Philosophy of Education
Education is a key factor in the molding of a child into who they are going to become as an adult. I feel that educators play a vital role in this process. Due to the fact that children spend most of their day learning in the classroom, it is very important to instill not only academics, but political, civil, economic, and social purposes as well. My goal as a teacher is to mold my students into model citizens through a democratic society. I want my students to trust and respect me and I vow to earn just that from them as well.
As an educator my goal is to help children learn through their own creativity and interests in both a fun and loving environment. Each child is a unique, responsible person and I feel that their education will play a big part in helping them to become a successful human being. By providing a classroom that is not only welcoming, but a place that the students enjoy learning and opening up to me as well as others, I know that I have done my job. I understand that grades are very important in a child’s education, but learning who they are as an individual as well as learning how to interact with others both inside and outside of school is just as important. Therefore, I will be sure to work with the children in all of these areas.
I believe that parents play a major role in their child’s education as well; therefore I will be sure to assess the children on a regular basis and keep their parents up to date on their progress. I feel that it is important for both the parents and I to work together to ensure the success of the child. The more people involved with the student’s achievements, the better.
I will provide a secure, caring, and stimulating environment which will assist in the positive learning of each of my students. I feel that the education each child receives should revolve around each child’s unique differences. Each child learns not only learns through different styles, but different paces as well. This however doesn’t make anyone better than the other; it just takes a little more time and effort for some to understand the concepts that I am teaching them. To me, a great way to teach children is by using the interactionist approach. This allows children to learn at an even pace and prevents them from becoming overwhelmed.
I see each child as their own person with different wants and needs, and I know that each one of them is special in their own way. Due to the fact that I am understanding and flexible helps me to make the best out of any situation. My love for children and for teaching will play a big role in my career. I care deeply for each child and for their uniqueness; therefore I know that I will make a positive impact on each and every one of their lives.
